Aitor Gonzalez’s work explores the conceptual and formal possibilities of everyday gestures. In his practice, objects are taken from an urban environment. Uprooted from their specific consumerist context they are replanted and transformed through a process of deconstruction and reassembly in the cultural sphere. His work challenges the viewer to find new perspectives from which to consider manufactured goods, to discover new significations and to question their own place in the process of production, consumption and interpretation. Through an introduction of the immediate reality into the exhibiting space, Gonzalez’s pieces prove how form can be overwritten, but never fully discharged of its cultural sediment.
