Emily Zuberec
Emily Zuberec
Emily Zuberec (born on the land of Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and Tsleil-Waututh peoples/Vancouver) is a poet living and working in Tohtià:ke/Montréal. Writing in the tradition of lyric-conceptualism, her poetry is in pursuit of demonstrating the affective vibrations of forms, particularly new prose arrangements. Her poetics harness the possibility of language to extend research taking place in other disciplines, treating poetry as an agile, malleable technology. She pursues a poetics of filtration or metabolism, testing poetry's capacity to integrate the hyperactivity of contemporary being and thinking. The poetic image is the main site of such extension, as it carries with it an interdisciplinary potential to collapse temporally disparate events and systems of knowledge. The resulting slices of newness are opportunities for criticism, meditation, or aesthetic pleasure.
