Paras Vijan

Paras Vijan is a studio-based artist with a two-part practice. First, his research and quotidian praxis is rooted in looking through the accumulation of photographs while being alert and open to unintended consequences that may arise during the process. The unintended consequences of his practice lead his works into uncharted territories outside the medium of photography, yet somehow relate to a photographic act. Second, in his practice, he has been occupied with re-visiting the deja-vu(s), immersing himself in familiar spaces with a renewed sense of self. This demands listening to and observing his surroundings rather than exploring with a camera in the first place. The residual mental images from observations are laid out in impulsive drawings and serve as a base composition for the image to be constructed in the studio.
